Pleated blinds are best described as similar to ladies pleated skirts, normally horizontal, but can be vertical. Pleats can be 20mm or 25mm wide, come in a variety of fabrics, colours and textures, even in blackout. Blinds can be fitted as freehang with cord and lock mechanism (similar to venetian mechanism) or as skylight, having fixings at both ends, opening and closing controlled with guide wires under tension down both sides. Most common place for these blinds is to conservatory roofs, but can be used in most situations. Roof blinds are normally controlled with a pole to open and close them, they can also be electronically controlled at extra cost. Perfect Fit A revolutionary new way of fitting pleated blinds, designed primarily for Conservatories and Tilt & Turn windows, these can be used behind doors, caravans etc, basically anywhere space is limited. The unique design comprises of a purpose made frame that the blind fits into which clips onto slim brackets, slid between glass and beading of window, so no drilling and screwing. Recently, this type of blind has been fitted to timber windows, fixing to the inside edge of window frame by screwing the blind frame directly to it, no brackets. This has enabled it to be used in skylight situations, reducing light passage when using blackout fabric, completely. ISO blinds A tried and trusted form of blind alternative available in all the usual pleated fabrics and colours, and fits within the reveal of the glass to each window section, having a very slim headrail which is screwed to the top frame of each individual pane, giving freedom of use of opening windows and doors without need to open complete blind, as well as no movement of blind in windy conditions. Intu blinds As with the ISO blind, this is basically the same type of blind, but with side rails for extra privacy and no screw fixing, it uses small metal clips fitted between the glass and rubber seal, guide wires and opening / closing are as the ISO.
