Sunshine blinds was started in February 2003 by Barry Bramer, who originated from Warwickshire, has lived in the Nottingham area for most of his life. Barry studied at schools in Long Eaton, then went on to train and work as an Architect Technician in various Architect practices and design offices around Nottingham for approximately twelve years, working on a wide variety of projects from housing and industrial projects to disabled and sheltered housing schemes. A change in direction took Barry into driving heavy goods vehicles, again for various companies around Nottingham and Derby, covering the whole of the UK, and after nearly 20 years on the road, he decided that had become a bit tedious, due to the road problems and ever increasing regulations, and came into blinds after having them fitted at home. Through a supplier that required another operative, Barry found himself learning his new trade alongside that supplier, covering an area which spanned from Long Eaton across to Belper and down to Derby, working from his home in Beeston, where the company is still based. In September 2003, Sunshine blinds was born, thus allowing Barry to expand his potential customer area, and still use his original supplier for blinds, he has since expanded his supplier base, and still has contacts with his original supplier, thus giving a wide range of expertise, knowledge and products. In April 2004 Sunshine blinds became a Limited company, and his wife, Marita, became a partner, and although she still works full time, she manages to take care of any phone calls to the home number, making sure Barry is aware of any callers whilst out, and making any necessary phone calls to customers or suppliers. Although Sunshine blinds is still growing, by having a small workforce, we feel we can control our everyday activities and maintain a service all our customers have come to expect, ensuring their needs are satisfied. |
